Fast Forward Workforce Training Grants

On Thursday, June 11, DCEDC, NWTC and the state Department of Workforce Development invite you to learn about new workforce training grant opportunities for businesses. Shelly Harkins from the Department of Workforce Development’s Office of Skills Development will discuss the recently announced fourth round of Wisconsin Fast Forward grants available to employers for customized worker training, including details of the application process. Dean Stewart, Dean of Corporate Training and Economic Development at NWTC will provide information about additional workplace training grant opportunities.

The Department of Workforce Development’s Office of Skills Development (OSD) recently released $8 million in Grant Program Announcements under Governor Walker’s Wisconsin Fast Forward initiative. Employers are encouraged to submit innovative and collaborative customized worker training grant applications in the nine occupational areas by the deadlines listed below.

  • July 2:
    • Manufacturing and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
  • August 20:
    • Financial Services and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
    • Information Technology, Systems Security, Data Analytics and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
    • Human Services, Customer Service and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
    • Health Science, Health Care and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
  • October 1:
    • Transportation, Logistics, Distribution and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
    • Architecture, Construction and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
    • Agriculture, Food, Natural Resources and Related Occupations, $5,000 to $400,000
  • October 8:
    • Wisconsin Small Business Occupations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, $5,000 to $50,000

OSD set Round 4 investment categories based on a comprehensive analysis of pressing workforce demand that included skilled worker labor market employment projections and immediate worker training needs of employers. Grant awards will be announced no later than sixty days from the application deadline.
