Ariens Company President/CEO To Keynote DCEDC Annual Investors Meeting

Door County, WI – The Door County Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce the details for their annual investors meeting and luncheon on Thursday, April 7, at the Stone Harbor Resort and Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay. The keynote speaker will be Ariens Company President/CEO Dan Ariens. His remarks will address “Growing a Workforce in Rural Wisconsin.” He was invited by the DCEDC Board of Directors to share his leadership and success in growing his company’s workforce, especially their work with local schools to retain youth in their community.

In addition to the keynote address by Dan Ariens, the annual investors meeting will include the presentation of the Door County Industry of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. The Industry of the Year Award recognizes a construction, service or manufacturing business that has made a substantial impact on the community and enjoyed significant accomplishments during the past year. The Entrepreneur of the Year Award celebrates those individuals who have taken the initiative to start and grow a successful small business in Door County.

This year will also see the second presentation of the Wellness Works Awards, a collaboration between DCEDC, the Door County YMCA and Ministry Door County Medical Center, recognizing business leaders who encourage employee wellness. The luncheon meeting will also include the annual report to the community about the accomplishments of DCEDC during 2015.

Dan Ariens, great-grandson of company founder Henry Ariens, joined the Ariens Company in 1983 and became President and CEO in 1998. Since that time, Dan’s leadership has been defined by a set of five Core Values and 15 Management Principles that clearly outline management expectations. His core values are simple and unwavering: Be Fair; Be Honest; Respect the Individual; Keep our Commitments; and Encourage Intellectual Curiosity.

A strong proponent of Lean manufacturing principles, Dan has created a culture of continuous improvement that has resulted in the creation of world-class manufacturing facilities. Over his tenure, he has led several strategic acquisitions, creating a family of brands that represent several of the most respected names in the consumer and commercial equipment markets.

Dan plays leadership roles in the Wisconsin business community, serving on several Boards of Directors for educational entities, for-profit companies and non-profit economic development groups, including the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce and the NEW North. He also holds a position on the Executive Committee of the Green Bay Packers’ Board of Directors.
